The close cooperation between ITEA 2, the industry-driven EUREKA Cluster for software-intensive systems and services, and ARTEMISIA, the EU-wide research organization for embedded systems, focuses on an open development of both areas of activity to further develop Europe's economy. At their second co-summit in Madrid, Artemisia and Itea 2 agreed to continue to pursue their individual strategies but at the same time to join forces to build an effective network and ecosystem and advocate increased funding. Through the embedded systems and software-intensive systems and services industry respectively, it is hoped that the European economy can be given a push and be helped out of the crisis. The two differently financed initiatives will focus on establishing industrial leadership in the European ICT industry.
