Guidelines for PowerPoint Presentation
Next to the Project Posters, we strongly recommend all projects to use a PowerPoint Presentation at the exhibition as well. Compared to a poster, a PowerPoint presentation offers you more flexibility:
- You can integrate other types of information like short films, demos and a slideshow of pictures
- You can prepare different slides (/presentations) for different target groups
- You can even adapt your slides on site if necessary
For this purpose, the ITEA 2 Office also prepared a structured PowerPoint Template. This template should be used for the presentations during the guided tours and could also be used for the general (rolling) presentation in your stand.
- Download the Project_Presentation_Guidelines.zip" target=_blank>Template and Guidelines for the PowerPoint Presentation for your stand at the exhibition here (all in one zip-file).
This presentation will be the basis of the training for which the stand crew will have the opportunity to participate in. (See Training Stand Crew)
Of course you can add slides, for specific target groups. Always make sure your presentation is short and to the point. Once you have captured the attention and interest of the public, you can show extra, more detailed slides. It is recommended to prepare these extra (more detailed) slides in advance.
PowerPoint Template instructions
- Title slide
- Introduction & Relevance
(1 or 2 slides)
This first slide should immediately trigger the interest of your audience:
- TIP: Use an appealing picture that clarifies the benefit of your technology and makes it clear what your technology is meant for
- Do not use full sentences. Keep them for your verbal story
Your verbal story should describe how the current situation compares to the future situation thanks to your technology and how it will contribute to society, life of people (your audience in fact). This story should give an example of a real situation that your audience recognizes as being a current problem.
- Innovation & Expected Results (1 or 2 slides)
- TIP: Use a picture or visual that shows your technology or the area where your technology is used.
- Verbally explain the innovative character of your project and how it responds to industry trends.
- Indicate how your project will contribute to the European technology position in this area
- Please understand that your audience might not have a technology background, but still need to recognize that your project is important for them.
- Try to define upfront what it is that you want your audience to remember (max 3 messages) and build your story around these messages.
- Demo / Application area
- The way ahead
(1 or 2 slides)
Verbally please state that the success of your project depends on continued support and prepare a final message that you would like your audience to remember when they leave you.
At the end of your presentation, prepare a question for your audience that triggers them to react to your story and give you feedback that could be of value to you.
Besides these template instructions, please keep in mind the following general guidelines as well when producing your PowerPoint presentation:
- See it from the point of view of your target audience!
Think hard about your message and what you want to achieve.
- Use visuals where possible.
Visuals might say more than a thousand words. However, always keep in mind to use clear, strong visuals (images/tables/short films etc).
- Write your text using short, vigorous formulation.
Use bullet points, no sentences. Omit detail – you can always provide this verbally (or via extra slides). It’s your (verbal) story that counts.
- Lay out your PowerPoint according to the ITEA 2 corporate identity.
The provided templates are intended to make it easier for you to make your PowerPoint presentation. Please adhere to the styles defined in the template.
- Production of the PowerPoint presentation:
You are personally responsible for the editing of your PowerPoint presentation. Nevertheless, if you want us to review your presentation, please feel free to send it to us by 15 OCTOBER latest at communications@itea2.org. After this date we can not guarantee that we are able to provide you feedback on time.
