European Nano-electronics Forum 2009 
The event was commonly organised and hosted by CATRENE, the EUREKA cluster programme and the ENIAC Joint Undertaking. Both public-private partnerships are working in close synergy for European leadership in nanoelectronics.

Bits & Chips 2009 Embedded Systemen
On November 12th, Techwatch organised the 8th Bits & Chips Embedded Systemen Conference. ITEA 2 participated in this event with a joined stand with ARTEMISIA and Point-One.

ITEA 2 Symposium 2009
This year, the ITEA 2 Symposium took place in the Auditorium Hotel Madrid, Spain on 29 & 30 October. The Symposium programme was scheduled around this year's theme: "Business-oriented innovation that strengthens economy and benefits society".   The symposium included a co-organised one-day programme together with ARTEMISIA: the ARTEMIS & ITEA Co-summit (30 October) with the Co-summit theme: "Ecosystems driving open innovation in Embedded Intelligence and Software-Intensive Systems and Services".

1st European Innovation Summit
The 1st European Innovation Summit (EIS), organised by the Knowledge4Innovation (K4I) / Lisbon Forum was held at the European Parliament in Brussels from 13 to 14 October 2009. Highlights of the Summit included exhibitions, conference sessions, networking events, a special welcome reception for new and returning MEPs and a Plenary Session with José Manuel Barroso (tbc) for “Europe’s Future Nobel Prize Winners”.   ITEA 2 Chairman Rudolf Haggenmüller was one of the panellists in the conference session "Reshaping R&D for excellence in innovation" (14 Oct.).

3rd SympTA/S NewsConference on Timing Analysis
This event provided a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas among engineers, managers, technology experts and researchers in the field of embedded real-time systems. Project Leader of the TIMMO Project Friedhelm Stappert gave a presentation on the TIMMO results.

Mini-symposium ParMA project at ParCo
During the International Conference on Parallel Computing (ParCo), the ParMA project organised a mini-symposium titled "Parallel Programming Tools for Multi-core Architectures". Several partners presented a consistent collection of papers in this mini-symposium.

EUREKA INNOVATION DAYS
The EUREKA Portuguese Chair organised the 2009 Innovation Days in Lisbon from 18 to 20 June.   With this three-day event, EUREKA leveraged its visibility to show that it is actively and positively  contributing to build the vision of ‘Europe Leading Technology and Innovation’.   The event consisted of a project results’exhibition, open-air demonstrations of technologies from EUREKA success stories.

OSS 2009
The 5th International Conference on Open Source Systems    The goal of OSS 2009 was to provide an international forum where a diverse community of professionals from academia, industry and public administration could come together to share research findings and practical experiences. The conference was also meant to provide information and education to practitioners, identify directions for further research, and to be an ongoing platform for technology transfer

Public Seminar on “Using Multimedia Analysis for Content-aware Systems”
This seminar elaborated on technology to enable content-awareness in media systems for a broad range of applications, allowing system intelligence for autonomous operation or assistance. Interactive television, video surveillance, and medical diagnostics were chosen as pilot application to focus the research.   Large industrial companies, medium-size enterprises, research institutes and Universities from Finland, UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Spain have joined in a European project CANTATA to address this topic and  presented scientific results and proof-of-concept demonstrations, but also posed the challenges for testing and validation of such highly data-dependent systems.

CELTIC EVENT 2009 - Future Directions in Telecommunications and ICT
The Celtic Initiative organised its 3rd official event on 11 and 12 March 2009 at the Marriot Hotel (Rive Gauche) in Paris. The event was target to decision makers, managers and technical experts from telecommunications industry, operators and academia. The event was open only to personally invited experts.
